Which languages are supported?
Supports all languages that use spaces for word segmentation, including English, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Hebrew, Hindi, and more; for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK), each character is counted as 1 word. Note: for scripts without spaces between words, such as Thai and Khmer, the count may be lower than expected.
How are CJK characters and words in other languages counted separately?
Each Chinese character, Japanese kana, and Korean character (CJK) counts as 1 word; other languages are split by spaces, and any token containing a letter or number counts as 1 word. Pure punctuation is not counted. The total word count is the sum of both parts.
How is estimated reading time calculated?
Calculated at an average reading speed of 250 words per minute, suitable for most adult reading scenarios.
Will my text be uploaded to the server?
No. All counting is done locally in real time in the browser, and your text never leaves your device.
How much text is supported?
In theory, text of any length is supported. Actual performance depends on your device configuration. It usually runs smoothly with up to a few hundred thousand characters.
